Drilling Engineer



LANGUAGES: strong oral and written English communication skills, Arabic, Chinese and Russian of advantage 


  • Engineering degree/HMD or equivalent.

  • Valid IWCF Combined Surface & Subsea Supervisor Level well control certification or equivalent.

  • Valid Medical Certificate.

  • Valid Offshore Survival Certificate.

  • Adequate working experience of 15 years, 8 years experience working with floating drilling rigs, and at least 5 years in the current position.

  • Familiar with HSE Standards & Procedures and HSE culture of major international operators.

  • Computer literate.

  • Familiar & experienced writing clear and concise drilling programs, costing, and comprehensive final reports.

  • Familiar & experienced with offshore and onshore logistics.

  • Familiar & experienced with contracts and dealing with drilling contractors and service companies.

The Drilling Engineer is required to:

  • Be based in the CUSTOMERS office.

  • Perform drilling engineering works required for successful,  cost effective  & safe implementation of CUSTOMER appraisal and exploration activities.

  • Provide engineering support to Drilling Superintendent & Senior Drilling Engineer.

  • Perform operations surveillance duties.

  • Prepare contract & budget requirements for drilling project.

  • Prepare optimized drilling   programs by consolidating geological   & petroleum engineering data, data from off-set wells, and from previous experience gained.

  • Prepare accurate well AFE by identifying all cost elements required for the operation.

  • Prepare the correct scope of work & technical specifications for tender packages.

  • Reduce non-productive time & trouble cost by identifying problems, unnecessary unsafe procedures and recommend remedial action.

  • Continuous advice to Drilling Superintendent & Senior Engineers on cost & schedule impact to the project by assessing performance indicators.

  • Support the Drilling Superintendent & Senior Engineers in preparing procedures & manuals in drilling, completions & testing, and workover & wireline activities.

  • Enhance self awareness in HSE at work site through familiarization of CUSTOMER HSE Management System.

  • Organize Service Company and rig BIDDER awareness in HSE through meetings and work site visits.

  • Identify & high-light the drilling risks to be encountered in wells to ensure all parties are aware of the potential risks & problems.
